Emergency First Aid at Work

Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is a practical, one-day training programme designed to give students the essential skills and confidence to provide immediate first aid in situations and emergencies they encounter in their workplace environment. EFAW meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations and is suitable for low-risk workplaces or as part of a wider first aid provision. 

The course covers: 

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider 
  • Assessing an incident and managing an emergency 
  • Unresponsive casualty care 
  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and safe use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) 
  • Managing a choking patient 
  • Managing a patient suffering a seizure 
  • Managing a patient in shock 
  • Managing minor and severe bleeding 
  • Managing burns and scalds 
  • Managing cuts, bruises and minor injuries 

On successful completion, learners receive a nationally recognised Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years.  

No previous experience is required.
